Supporting Canada’s Livestock Feed Industry
The Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC) is the national trade association for the Canadian livestock feed industry. ANAC serves the Canadian feed sector by fostering an innovative, adaptable, and resilient industry that helps ensure the continuous availability of safe and nutritious feed for farm animals.
The association collaborates with government, the feed value chain, commodity and producer groups, as well as other provincial and national organizations to develop and support national programs and standards related to food safety and animal health. ANAC also creates networking opportunities for members to exchange ideas and share the latest scientific developments with counterparts from across the country and around the world.

Collaborating for a Stronger Food System
The Canadian feed industry serves a vital role in ensuring a robust supply of quality feed and feed ingredients for Canadian livestock which in turn supports a continuous supply of safe and nutritious milk, meat and eggs to consumers in Canada and around the world.
As a world leader and international partner in sustainable animal nutrition, ANAC provides a pre-competitive space for the sector to collaborate, innovate and set the highest standards of feed safety in Canada.

Key Initiatives
FeedAssure®
ANAC has developed and manages the FeedAssure® program, a Canadian Food Inspection Agency-recognized and third-party verified feed safety assurance program that has been shown to enhance customer confidence and employee satisfaction by setting a high bar for feed safety.
It is a valuable business tool for the livestock feed industry that provides all participants in the animal protein value-chain with confidence in the safety of their feed and feed ingredients. FeedAssure® was the first feed industry HACCP program developed in North America and one of the first in the world.

Animal Nutrition Conference of Canada
ANAC supports the Canadian feed and livestock sector through the annual Animal Nutrition Conference of Canada (ANCC). This dynamic conference brings together government, academic researchers and industry specialists to exchange knowledge about the latest innovations and scientific developments in animal nutrition.
The ANCC also provides a platform to highlight Canadian graduate student research in animal nutrition and support emerging leaders to network with mentors from across the sector. Visit the ANCC webpage to learn more.
Canadian Feed Industry Education Program
With collaboration from the University of Guelph and the University of Saskatchewan, ANAC has developed the Canadian Feed Industry Education Program (CFIEP), a modular course that combines foundational knowledge with industry expertise to offer meaningful insights into the various roles and employment opportunities in the feed sector.
CFIEP is comprised of nine online learning modules and one in-person hands-on module. Each of the 10 CFIEP modules focuses on a different aspect of the feed industry, providing learners with the opportunity to explore each facet and understand how they come together to form a diverse yet integrated whole.
Visit the CFIEP webpage to learn more about this unique learning opportunity.
